Rema is a family-owned company founded in 1989 in Salzburg, specializing in high‑quality wood products for both indoor and outdoor use. The company manufactures premium Rema multi‑layer panels, solid wood panels, door friezes, door blanks, and sawn timber under the Rema Premium Timber brand. Today, Rema employs 100 industry professionals who are dedicated to delivering top‑tier wood solutions.
Partnership with Puumerkki began in 2010. It marked an important milestone that helped Rema expand into the Finnish and Baltic markets. One of the first joint projects was the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia in Nuuksio, a flagship project of sustainable wood construction.
Rema is a small company with a Europe‑wide customer base, which makes partnerships crucial for growth.
The growing demand for wood construction has expanded market opportunities, but it has also led to an increase in lower‑quality, cost‑driven alternatives. Selling high‑quality wood products requires more effort and a strong market position.
The Haltia project required a lightweight solution with a surface resembling CLT. Rema’s boards made from Finnish wood were the perfect choice.
The collaboration provided Puumerkki with an opportunity to renew its product offering and introduce three‑layer boards of various thicknesses with Finnish, low‑knot spruce as the surface wood. For Rema, it meant establishing a strong sales, distribution and service network in Finland and the Baltic countries.
Thanks to Puumerkki’s expertise and strong market presence, Rema’s products gained traction among a wide range of customers—from small companies to large projects involving partners such as Raision Puusepät Oy, ProtosDemos Oy and Kumart Oy.
Although interior designers and architects remain our primary target group, interest in high‑quality wood construction has expanded elsewhere as well, particularly in wall cladding, ceilings and staircases.
“Looking ahead, we hope to expand our joint offering of Rema wood‑surface panels with Puumerkki. One interesting opportunity is the new RemaProCon product range, which we believe is a perfect fit for the Nordic market,” says Alexander Öttl.

Puumerkki has made a remarkable impression – not only as a company but also as a team. Our collaboration is built on trust and honesty, and I truly value Puumerkki’s expertise, professionalism, and commitment as a distributor of high‑quality products for the Finnish and Baltic markets.
